Axis 1: Strengthening the Industrial Performance of the Sector
Having a robust sector capable of producing with the required quality and quantity, on time and within expected costs, is essential to ensuring the revival of nuclear energy. The first axis of the contract aims to strengthen the industrial performance of the sector. It encompasses issues related to safety and security, operational excellence, cooperation and intra-sector relations, the establishment of a high‑quality social framework, as well as the sector’s ability to assert itself in Europe and expand internationally.
Axis 2: Enhancing the Attractiveness and Skills of the Sector
The second axis aims to support the sector’s growth in capacity and competencies in order to meet its current and future challenges. The nuclear industry today represents around 220,000 jobs, and its revival requires 100,000 full‑time equivalent recruitments over the next ten years—illustrating the scale of the undertaking and the level of ambition the contract must address. This second axis is therefore structured around key issues such as skills development, training, available recruitment resources, attractiveness, and talent retention.
Axis 3: Mobilizing the Sector Around Future Challenges
For the French nuclear industry to remain competitive, the sector must continuously innovate and rely on dynamic, high‑performance R&D. The objective of the third axis is to strengthen research and development by supporting the emergence and deployment of innovative nuclear reactors, as well as the development of non‑electrical applications of nuclear technologies.
Axis 4: Promoting a Responsible Sector and Advancing the Energy Transition
The nuclear sector is a key driver of the energy transition. The fourth and final axis of the contract addresses decarbonization, adaptation to climate change, energy efficiency, and the circular economy.
