The Flamanville EPR (European Pressurized Reactor) is a new-generation nuclear reactor designed to meet today's energy production challenges. It is more efficient, safer and greener!

  • The Flamanville EPR is the most powerful French reactor in the fleet, joining the 56 others. Its electrical output is close to 1,670 MW. This feat of engineering further removes our foreign dependence and strengthens French and European energy sovereignty.
  • As well as being a low-carbon energy source, the EPR optimises the use of uranium by improving the fuel cycle. This contributes to more sustainable management of natural resources. The EPR is very much part of the energy transition and demonstrates the role of French nuclear power in this process. The return of major nuclear projects in France is boosting the industry and making it part of a greener approach. ️

The success of the EPR in France will encourage other similar projects around the world, which will contribute to a more sustainable and low-carbon energy transition. By combining technological innovation and respect for the environment, it will play a crucial role in the fight against climate change while meeting the growing demand for electricity. First electricity production is scheduled for late autumn.
